Technical Information / Ryder

The Cat Pack has full public liability insurance and P.A.T.-tested certificates on all electronic equipment.

The Cat Pack perform in the traditional big band line-up of:
  • 5 x Saxophones
  • 4 x Trumpets
  • 4 x Trombones
  • Piano / Keyboard
  • Drums
  • Bass
  • Guitar (+Vocals)
The reduced line-up:
  • 4 x Saxophones (1 Alto, 1 Tenor, 1 Alto/Tenor doubling, 1 Baritone)
  • 3 x Trumpets
  • 3 x Trombones
  • Piano / Keyboard
  • Drums
  • Bass

Plus up to 3 further vocalists therefore totalling a maximum of 20-piece for the full line-up and a minimum of 13-piece for the reduced line-up (minus vocalists).

PA, lights and all stage equipment are provided where required by the band and this is included in the fee. Our full sound specification and stage plan(s) are as follows (please note this is for the full 20-piece line-up – omit instruments / vocals as mentioned above for the reduced line-up and either stage plan may be used depending on performing area / stage).

Should our own PA be required and it may also wished to be used for third party entertainment at the same event (DJ, further entertainers, etc) please inform the band / representative upon your booking enquiry (this may incur a further modest fee depending on length of time required).

Minimum power supply requirement – 32 amp.

Standard PA size = 6K rig however this can be reduced or enlarged depending on venue size as required.

Despite the large size of the band we are actually able to perform in many areas although a floor space of at least 35×25 feet is recommended (not including PA).

10 good quality and matching chairs are required at the venue for the bands on-stage use.

For touring and overseas engagements we require:
  • 5-piece drum kit including hardware and standard cymbal set-up (Pearl Export or equivalent minimum standard).
  • Yamaha Clavinova or equivalent minimum standard stage piano with weighted 88-keys (plus stand and stool).
  • 60-watt keyboard combo (Roland KC-100 or equivalent minimum standard).
  • 60-watt guitar combo (Fender Twin/Blues De Ville or equivalent minimum standard).
  • 1×15 100/150-watt bass combo (Ashdown or equivalent minimum standard).
The band independently travel with:
  • Acoustic upright double bass (with electronic pick-ups).
  • 2 x Electric guitars.
  • An assortment of leads, effects pedals, etc.
  • Up to 4 trumpets + accessories.
  • Up to 4 trombones + accessories.
  • Up to 5 saxophones (2 x Alto, 2 x Tenor, 1 x Baritone), including flute and clarinet doubles where applicable + accessories.
  • 18 fold-up plastic music stands packed into 3 soft cases (1.5m x 75cm x 20cm each).
  • 1 x (1.5m x 50cm x 50cm) pads and accessories hard case.
  • 1 x (1.5m x 50cm x 50cm) merchandise hard case (if required).
  • On-stage costumes and applicable luggage for up to 20 persons.

Travel expenses are included in the fee except in extreme circumstances (long distance, overseas, etc) – precise quotes for each engagement are available upon request.

Performing time for the band is most commonly a maximum of two hours, usually divided into 2 spots, however performing time and segments can be flexible as required. Performing time over this length and beyond midnight may, however, incur a higher fee. Changing facilities are required close or nearby to the performing area.

A selection of light refreshments is required at the venue to cater for up to 20 people (water, juice, sandwiches, etc).

Load-in, set-up and sound-check time is approximately 2 hours for the whole band & PA. Set-down time is approximately 1 hour.

Accommodation or additional payment for accommodation may be required for long distance / overseas engagements – precise quotes for each engagement are available upon request.

These and further relevant details are included in our contract of engagement which will be issued once the agreement of an engagement has been reached.
